Loving Me God’s Way: Treasured Creations

Imagine a master weaver, his hands moving with practiced grace, meticulously crafting a tapestry. Each thread, carefully chosen and placed, contributes to a breathtaking design. Every stitch is infused with intention, every detail imbued with care. This, my friend, is how God created you.

Psalm 139:13-16 beautifully captures this divine artistry: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb… your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." You aren’t a haphazard collection of cells; you are intricately woven with love, a unique and irreplaceable masterpiece.

As I pondered the depth of God’s handiwork in each of us, the phrase "Treasured Creations" was dropped in my spirit. Researching its meaning unveiled a powerful truth: a treasured creation evokes “a sense of deep affection and profound value.” It speaks of a creator’s pride, reflecting their investment of time, effort, and even a part of themselves. This creation is perceived as unique and irreplaceable, holding a special place in the creator's heart and mind.

This realization was a powerful confirmation: You are cherished, unique, and irreplaceable in God’s eyes. You are deeply loved and held in the highest regard by your Creator. This profound love is the very reason Jesus doesn't simply suggest loving God; He commands it (Matthew 22:37). This isn't a casual, lukewarm affection; it’s a passionate, all-encompassing devotion—heart, soul, and mind—a complete surrender to the One who first loved us.

This call to total devotion echoes in Deuteronomy 6:4-5, the Shema, a central Hebrew prayer. It emphasizes the oneness of God and the totality of our love for Him. This all-consuming love is the bedrock upon which our lives are built.

The very essence of God is love (1 John 4:16). To truly know God is to know love in its purest form. But there’s a Hebrew word that takes this understanding even deeper: Hesed. Often translated as "loving-kindness," Hesed encompasses so much more. It speaks of steadfast love, mercy, kindness, and covenant faithfulness. It describes a love that is unwavering, persistent, and deeply committed—a love that will never let go. This is the kind of love God has for you.

Your worth isn't defined by your accomplishments, the number of followers you have, or the fleeting opinions of others. It’s rooted in the unshakeable truth that you are a treasured creation of divine Hesed. Before you even took your first breath, God's loving-kindness was upon you, shaping you, preparing you for a unique and purposeful life.

When you truly grasp the immeasurable depth of God’s Hesed for you, something shifts. You begin to understand your own inherent value, seeing yourself through His loving eyes. This understanding is the essential first step on the path to loving yourself as you are called to do.

Embrace Your Identity as a Treasured Creation:

How can you begin to experience this truth more deeply? Here are a few practical steps:

  • Spend time in prayer: Talk to God openly and honestly. Express your gratitude for His unwavering love and ask Him to reveal it to you in a deeper way.
  • Meditate on Scripture: Immerse yourself in verses that speak of God's love, such as John 3:16, Romans 5:8, and Ephesians 1:4-5. Reflect on what these verses mean for you personally. Let the words sink into your heart.
  • Worship: Engage in worship music, spend time in nature, or find other ways to connect with God's presence. Allow His love to wash over you.
